FaithSearch Team to Help Introduce Chaplaincy Services in Malaysia

FaithSearch Partners Senior Vice President Jeff Jernigan and Vice President Nancy Jernigan will be traveling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September to take part in the National Association of Christian Counselors (NACC) conference. The Jernigans will travel as part of a team assembled by Olive Branch International (OBI), a Christian non-profit organization that provides disaster relief resources and education primarily to closed countries.

“Conference-goers are expected to include individuals from Borneo, Brunei, China, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia,” said Nancy. “This is OBI’s first effort in Southeast Asia and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

The group’s efforts will be focused on introducing the theme of “Counselor as Chaplain” during the conference and weeklong workshop series. Members of the OBI team will have opportunities to speak in local churches and will be meeting with officials interested in creating a chaplaincy in the military and hospital organizations. Jeff will work with Chaplain (Ret) Don Cramblit to co-instruct a course-for-credit on the subject to nationals and expatriates. Nancy will be teaching a course on life coaching, providing students with the tools to bring further growth and health to their neighbors and communities.

“Currently a chaplaincy of any kind does not exist in Malaysia other than those provided by foreign organizations or institutions for their own purposes,” said Jeff. “Nancy and I are honored to have the opportunity to help provide education and access to chaplaincy programs to the people of Malaysia.”

The FaithSearch family is very proud of the Jernigans’ commitment to service through Christ and will be praying for the success of their mission as well as their safe return.

Olive Branch International (OBI) is a Christian non-profit organization that provides disaster relief resources and education primarily to closed countries including medical personnel and supplies, educational resources and consultation with government agencies regarding the impact of policy decisions on health and welfare. OBI is currently in 35 countries, 17 of them “closed,” and is the only Christian-based NGO to work with the support of the Department of Defense and State Department through five administrations.
