St. Helena Hospital Appoints New VP of Physician Services

David Olson has recently been named Vice President of Physician Services at the Northern California Network of Adventist Health in St. Helena, California.  The Northern California Network of Adventist Health is comprised of five hospitals in and around the Napa Valley and a rapidly growing multi-specialty physician group practice. Olson has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership and has worked as an executive for physician group practices across the country including Associate Administrator at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, Administrator of both The Medical Group of Greenville and Blue Mountain Medical Group and CEO of Palmetto Primary Care Physicians.  He also has experience in hospital management as Vice President of Clinical Services and Physician Relations at White Memorial Medical Center as well as COO of both Mesa General Hospital and Southern Arizona Rehabilitation Hospital.

Throughout his career, Olson has created a pattern of consistently exceeding existing standards of productivity, improving financial performance, reducing wasteful spending, increasing the number of patients served, recruiting highly-skilled physicians and initiating successful physician-bonding programs. The industry veteran specializes in financial analysis, physician recruitment, contract negotiations and government relations and aptly describes himself as possessing “operational expertise in day to day operations.”

Olson accepted the position at the Northern California Network of Adventist Health following a search engagement managed by executive search firm, FaithSearch Partners. “Olson’s ability to analyze and improve the operational performance of physician practices through permanent and positive change makes him an invaluable asset to the entire Northern California Network of hospitals,” said Ed Reifsnyder, FaithSearch Partners Senior Vice President. “He is a gifted leader with a business mind and servant heart.”

Olson officially joined the Northern California Network team in early May and has already been busy working on a variety of projects including building infrastructure, recruiting physicians and preparing for an upcoming Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation across the Network.
