FaithSearch Partners is pleased to announce that Charlotte-based youth soccer ministry, Missionary Athletes International (MAI), has selected David Urban to be the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Urban, who played soccer for Eastern University and has extensive experience leading youth-focused organizations as both an executive and board member, will lead strategic direction for the ministry and oversee its Executive Leadership Team, which includes directors for national and international operations.
“This role requires a unique blend of skills – not to mention a special appreciation for the sport of soccer – which Urban absolutely has,” said Greg Barnes, President of FaithSearch Partners’ Mission Enterprise Division. “He is an entrepreneurial leader with a personal passion for seeing sports foster conversations about the Gospel. We couldn’t be more excited to see him lend his talents to MAI.”
Urban holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an MBA from Eastern University. He and his wife, Carolyn, and their three children live in Matthews, North Carolina.
For four decades, MAI has spread the message of the Gospel and discipled young athletes, generating teams that cultivate influential coaches and players for Christ. Over the last two years, MAI has impacted more than 30,000 lives through soccer camps, competitive international team play, coach training, and international ministry tours.
