San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) in Bakersfield, CA has hired former Florida Hospital Zephyrhills President/CEO, David Duffield, to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer following a nationwide executive search led by FaithSearch Partners.
Since its establishment more than 100 years ago, SJCH has grown to become the area’s premier healthcare provider. It was the first hospital in Bakersfield to perform open-heart surgery and to feature a full-treatment burn center. “The opportunity to come to a hospital that’s grown so nicely and has such a broad set of services to serve the community was really the draw,” said Duffield in an interview with The Bakersfield Californian.
Duffield spent a decade and a half working with Fortune 500 companies in the technology sector before transitioning to a career in healthcare leadership. He has since served as Vice President of Sonora Regional Medical Center in Sonora, CA and played a key role in the development of Maluti Adventist Hospital in rural Lesotho, Africa.
“His [Duffield’s] experience will help us successfully face healthcare reform and perform at a higher level to meet the needs of the Bakersfield community,” said Executive VP/CEO of Adventist Health, Scott Reiner.
