Ordinary PeopleYou don’t have to be extraordinary to make a difference. Spectacular feats on the world’s stage don’t serve as the catalyst for changing hearts. Each of us has the ability to lead and to be an example for those around us, every day. Our Christian beliefs and our relationship with Jesus should shine through in our everyday actions. Ordinary people that take advantage of the opportunities laid before them can make a major impact on the world.

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and they realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13

Obviously, Peter and John weren’t just ordinary people. They were chosen by Jesus as His disciples and leaders of the early church. But when the religious leaders of the time saw them, they saw ordinary men, but men that they knew had been influenced by Jesus. Their confidence in and relationship with Jesus was on display in their everyday conversations.

We weren’t included in Jesus’ 12 disciples, but we’re still chosen by Him. As Christians and as leaders, we’re charged with impacting those around us and ensuring that our relationship with Jesus shows through our daily lives and interactions.

Compared to Him, we’re all ordinary people. There’s nothing special about us, comparatively. But through Him and our relationship with Him, we have the ability to positively impact each individual in our path. For leaders, it’s more of a responsibility. We’ve been placed in a position of influence. A position of power. That influence and power can be used for good. It’s up to us to ensure that those around us see Jesus in us.
