FaithSearch Partners is pleased to announce that its client, Simpson University, has selected Brent Thompson as its next Chief Operating Officer & Chief of Staff, effective October 13. Simpson University, California’s only Christian university north of Sacramento, has been educating and shaping world-influencers for over 100 years.

Brent brings extensive leadership experience to Simpson, including 14 years as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate, where he advised on legal, administrative, and operational matters in progressively senior roles. He currently practices environmental law at Hartman King PC in Sacramento, focusing on regulatory compliance and complex litigation. His decorated military career included service as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate in Okinawa, Chief of Civil Law in Hawaii, and deployments to Afghanistan, where he earned the Bronze Star. Brent holds a Juris Doctor from Indiana University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina, and advanced military degrees from the U.S. Naval War College and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, both with distinction. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne and Ranger Schools. Since August 2024, Brent has served Simpson University as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice and as Pre-Law Advisor, giving him valuable insight into the university community.
