Legacy Maryland Hospital Announces New President

Maryland-based Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH) recently named Erik Wangsness as President of the 252-bed acute-care facility following an executive search managed by FaithSearch Partners.  Most recently Wangsness served as President/CEO of a faith-based hospital in Tennessee that is part of a large, national, not-for-profit health system.

“The appointment of a new President presents a tremendous opportunity for Washington Adventist Hospital,” said Terry Forde, president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare. “Building on the hospital’s extensive heritage, Wangsness will help shape and implement a dynamic vision for the organization.”

Wangsness earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota. He has received multiple professional accolades for his performance in health care, including the 2013 Top Performer in Culture of Patient Safety and the Press Ganey Commitment to Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction. He is well known and respected within the medical community.

“Colleagues appreciate Erik’s strong relationship-building skills including earning physician trust, his strong ethics, and his track record of delivering results,” said Forde. “I am confident that he will be an excellent team member and an accountable leader to position Washington Adventist Hospital for a bright future.”
