Kevin Smothers, M.D., FACEP has recently been named Chief Medical Officer at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital (SGAH) in Rockville, Maryland. SGAH is one of five hospitals affiliated with Adventist HealthCare, an integrated healthcare delivery system based in Maryland.
Smothers has more than 25 years experience in the healthcare industry. He has spent the past 13 years serving in key leadership positions including Medical Director at Bellvue Hospital Center (part of New York University Medical Center), Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Greenwich Hospital Center (part of Yale New Haven Health System), Physician Director at Franklin Square Hospital Center, Chief Quality Officer and most recently Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs/CMO Carroll Hospital Center.
In addition to his executive experience, Smothers also has a strong clinical background. He has served as an attending physician in numerous hospitals along the East Coast. He maintains an active medical license in the State of Maryland and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Smothers accepted the position at SGAH following a search engagement managed by executive search firm, FaithSearch Partners.
