Biblical LeadershipSome people are born leaders. Others have to work at it. Either way, there are role models and examples that all leaders look up to for an example of how to be effective. For Biblical leaders, the ultimate guide is the Bible. The Bible tells us to remember those that set an example for us and to contemplate their ways and their faith. Then as leaders, it’s our responsibility to set that same example of leadership and faith for those we lead. We often hear of Christ-like leadership, but is biblical leadership a cliche?

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

  • Hebrews 13:7-8

This simple, yet powerful scripture reminds us that the example Jesus set will never change. And as leaders, it is our responsibility to follow Christ’s example and to set a Christ-like example for those that follow us.

Those are big shoes to fill. To lead others as Christ led us. But instead of viewing it as a challenge, see it as an opportunity. An additional reason to strive to be Christ-like.  If not for ourselves, lead like Jesus for those that are watching us, those that learn from us, and those that depend on us.

This is important for everyone in positions of leadership – not just in business. Parents lead their children. Teachers lead their students. Coaches lead their athletes. Politicians lead cities, states, and countries. Influencers lead their followers.

Everyone in a leadership position has a beautiful opportunity to remember those that taught them to lead, to consider their way of life, and to imitate their faith. To contemplate what made them successful and pass that on to the next generation of leaders. Follow the example and set the example for biblical leadership.
