Earlier this year, FaithSearch Partner’s Senior Vice President and clinical psychologist, Jeff Jernigan PhD, LPC, BCPPC, spoke at the Catholic CEO Healthcare Connection (CCHC) Forum in Phoenix, Arizona, on the topic of physician burnout and resiliency. The topic centers around the sobering statistic that physicians in the U.S. commit suicide at nearly twice the rate of all other professions. Dr. Jernigan explained some of the reasons for this burnout and offered ways to proactively address and break this cycle. CCHC is a consortium of Catholic health system executives, convening to connect, share and accelerate leading practices in healthcare. Its members comprise about 85% of Catholic health ministry.
In addition, Dr. Jernigan will be featured discussing this same topic of physician burnout and resiliency in an upcoming podcast for the Wellness Coalition of America, the largest provider of wellness resources to employers in the country with 6,000+ member companies. The podcast will be released in September.
Dr. Jernigan is an ordained pastor and board certified psychologist. As a missionary, minister, and healthcare professional, Jeff has served in faith-based ministry including churches, para-church organizations, hospitals and health systems since 1983. He is recognized nationally and internationally for leading-edge programming focused on the prevention of burnout and self-directed violence associated with the helping professions.
