FaithSearch Partners is pleased to announce that Doug Lawrence has joined its team of affiliate partners. Lawrence is a seasoned “transition specialist” who, for over 30 years, has coached prominent mainline churches through style shifts, personnel realignment, and engaging, media-rich worship innovation.
Lawrence’s background includes an extensive television and singing career, having performed in Hollywood studios in dozens of Oscar-winning movies, and touring the world as a bass-baritone concert soloist with near every major orchestra. He has also been involved in nearly 200 network programs over a 40-year span and hosted CCN’s satellite-broadcast worship programs for several years. He taught at the University of Southern California and was a guest lecturer at several other colleges and universities. His great preoccupation, however, has always been churches, their message and their people.
He served as the Minister of Worship at two of the largest Presbyterian churches (PCUSA) in the country, Hollywood and Menlo Park, for 25 years, working with several author/pastors such as Lloyd John Ogilvie and John Ortberg. Lawrence is also a frequent speaker/clinician at church conferences throughout the United States.
In 2007 he founded and continues to serve as CEO of Speaking as a Performing Art, a firm which coaches leading executives and their teams and includes pastors from across the country. Lawrence co-authored GPS for Success, published in 2011, with Stephen Covey and others. His observations on the church and worship also appear in several Christian publications including CreatorMagazine.com and ChurchCentral.com.
