Presence, AMITA Health Systems Agree to Merge
“Presence Health, which has hospitals in Elgin, Aurora and Des Plaines, has entered into a deal to become part of Arlington Heights-based AMITA Health and create the largest health system in the state,” according to the Daily Herald. “Though there remain some details to work out, both companies believe the deal should be completed by the end of the year. The agreement would add Presence’s hospitals, including Presence Holy Family in Des Plaines, Presence Mercy in Aurora, Presence St. Joseph in Elgin, Presence Saint Francis in Evanston and Presence St. Joseph in Joliet, to a network that already includes Alexian Brothers Health Systems and Adventist Midwest Health.”
Providence St. Joseph Health Network to Cover Three Southern California Counties
“Providence St. Joseph Health announced a new leadership structure on Thursday, Sept. 7, that will unify health services across three Southern California counties and work to allow patients seamless access throughout the region,” Long Beach Press Telegram reports. “The nonprofit health system owns 14 hospitals and 60 doctor’s offices in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties. They now will be headed by Erik Wexler, who previously oversaw the Los Angeles region. Dr. Richard Afable, an executive for Orange County and the High Desert, announced his December retirement last month.”
Mercy Appoints New Hospital President
“Mercy Hospital St. Louis has appointed Steve Mackin as its new president,” according to St. Louis Business Journal. “Mackin will replace Jeffrey Johnston, who was recently promoted to president of Mercy’s eastern region. Mackin joined Mercy in March as senior executive for business line development, with a special focus on developing cancer services in Mercy’s east region. Mercy Hospital St. Louis, an 859-bed hospital in Creve Coeur, had 2015 revenue of $1.17 billion. It is the second largest hospital in the St. Louis region.”
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills Hospital Welcomes New President
The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System has selected Asha Rodrigues as the new president of the Westover Hills hospital, reports KSAT ABC 12. “She has already served as the hospital’s assistant administrator in 2016 and was most recently the administrator of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center.”
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital- Janesville Announces New President
“SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Janesville named Ben Layman as its second president since opening in 2012,” according to Gazette Xtra. “Layman will replace Kerry Swanson, who served as president for the hospital’s opening [and] left in April to become regional president for hospital operations for SSM Health in southern Illinois. The new president comes to Janesville from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he worked for Spectrum Health as chief operating officer for a 40-bed acute care hospital and 65-bed rehabilitation center.”
