Trinity Health More Than Doubles Operating Income in First 9 Months of FY 2017: 3 Things to Know
“Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health reported operating income before adjustments of $201.8 million in the first nine months of fiscal year 2017, up from $77.6 million in the same period a year prior, according to unaudited financial documents,” reports Becker’s Healthcare. The nonprofit 93-hospital system attributes “the change [in operating margin] to increases in patient volume and improvements in service mix, payment rates, length of stay and productivity.” The system attributes increase in revenue to “volume growth and improved payment rates and service mix.”
Banko Promoted to Chief Executive at Centura Health
“Centura Health has promoted Peter D. Banko to chief executive, replacing Gary S. Campbell, who will step down Sept. 1 to take on a new executive role within the organization,” reports BizWest Media. “Banko has been Centura’s president and chief operating officer since May 2016. Prior to that, Banko was senior vice president, group executive officer and chief integration officer of Catholic Health Initiatives. Centura is a joint venture of Catholic Health Initiatives and Adventist Health System.”
Mercy Finalizes Acquisition of St. Anthony’s Medical Center
“St. Anthony’s Medical Center is now owned and operated by Chesterfield-based Mercy, one of the country’s largest Catholic health care providers,” according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Mercy, the third largest medical provider in the region, announced it was entering into an agreement to operate the south St. Louis County facility earlier this year. Mike McCurry, Mercy executive vice president and chief operating officer, is expanding his responsibilities and taking on the role of president at St. Anthony’s.”
Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center Appoints New President
“Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center is pleased to welcome Douglas Kleam to the St. Bernardine Medical Center (SBMC) team, effective June 12, 2017,” Highland Community News reports. “In his most recent role, Douglas served as administrator and chief operating officer for Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. Douglas has an MBA from the University of Redlands and a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield. Douglas is also a graduate of the Catholic Healthcare Ministry Leadership Program, a collaboration of five health care congregations, which reflects his long term commitment to stewarding organizational cultures that integrate the principles of Catholic social teaching, thought, and practice.”
CHRISTUS Health Spohn COO Named as New Market President
“Irving-based Christus Health has named Justin Doss as its new market president of the Christus Spohn Health System,” according to D CEO Healthcare. “Doss previously served as Christus’ Spohn COO, tending to hospitals in Corpus Christi, Alice, Beeville, and Kingsville.” The Corpus Christi-area network within Christus Health includes six hospitals, multiple family health centers, and medical and community outreach programs.
