Craig Cordola to Serve as Market Executive for Ascension Texas
“St. Louis-based Ascension Healthcare appointed Craig A. Cordola senior vice president and market executive for Ascension’s Texas ministry, effective Sept. 1,” according to Becker’s Hospital Review. “Ascension Texas includes Providence Healthcare Network in Waco and Seton Healthcare Family in Austin. Mr. Cordola currently serves as senior vice president of Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System and president of its west region. Mr. Cordola succeeds Jesús Garza, who is retiring.”
CHA Congratulates the 2017 Award Recipients
Recently at the 2017 Catholic Health Assembly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Catholic Health Association presented awards that recognize remarkable contributions to Catholic health care, according to the association’s website. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to three individuals this year. First was John J. Finan, Jr , who is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System in Baton Rouge. Next was Sister Mary Dorothea Sondgeroth, OP, who is the Assistant Executive Director of the St. Dominic Health Services Foundation in Jackson, Mississippi. The third recipient was Sister Jomary Trstensky, OSF, who is the chairperson for Hospital Sisters Ministries in Springfield, Illinois.
SSM Health Named to ‘2017 Health Care’s Most Wired’
“SSM Health has been named to the ‘2017 Health Care’s Most Wired’ list. It is the fourth straight year the organization has received the recognition from the American Hospital Association (AHA) Health Forum,” WJBD Radio reports. “The Most Wired list is determined by the organization’s annual Most Wired Survey, which highlights hospitals and health systems and their adoption of innovative technology to improve care delivery, patient experience, clinical quality and safety, clinical integration, and IT infrastructure. According to the survey, Most Wired hospitals are using smart phones, tele-health and remote monitoring to create more ways for patients to access health care services and capture health information. They also are investing in analytics to support new delivery models and effective decision-making and training clinicians on how to use analytics to improve quality, provide access and control costs.”
CHRISTUS Health Taps Glenney to Lead Northeast Texas Region
“CHRISTUS Health has named Chris Glenney as senior vice president of group operations for the system and CEO of CHRISTUS Health Northeast Texas,” according to Modern Healthcare. “Glenney replaced Lindsey Bradley, who retired last month after nearly 36 years at the organization, and will lead CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System and CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. Glenney has been president and CEO of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances since March, but has been with the system since 1998.”
Ascension Names VanOsdol CEO of St. Vincent’s HealthCare
Ascension Healthcare has named Tom VanOsdol as its next president and CEO of its Jacksonville, Fla.-based subsidiary St. Vincent’s HealthCare, reports Modern Healthcare. “VanOsdol has been the interim CEO since January, when he took over for Dr. Mike Schatzlein. He will also serve as senior vice president of Ascension, the largest not-for-profit health system in the country with 141 hospitals, and Jacksonville Ministry Market executive. St. Vincent’s includes three hospitals and dozens of healthcare facilities that employ more than 5,000 workers.”
Essentia Health Investing $14 Million in Grand Rapids
“Essentia Health will invest $14 million to expand its Grand Rapids Clinic in partnership with Lakewood Surgery Center,” according to Business North. “The expansion will provide patients increased access to cardiology, podiatry and orthopedics services, Essentia said, as well as future access to urology, and ear, nose and throat care. Construction will begin in July, with a planned completion date of late spring, 2018.”
